Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and password (handled securely by our backend provider, Supabase Auth). We never see or store your password in plain text.

Health and symptom information you choose to provide, including:

• Age (required to be 16 or older to use the app)
• Screening questionnaire answers (menstrual cycle regularity, hair growth, skin/acne, weight changes)
• Daily symptom logs (mood, energy, sleep, exercise, diet, weight)
• Cycle/period tracking dates
• Written AI-generated summaries of food photos you optionally choose to analyze: the photo itself is analyzed in memory and immediately discarded, only the resulting text summary and glycemic-impact score is saved (see “How We Store and Protect Your Information” below)

Phone number (optional). If you choose to add a phone number to your account, for verifying your identity or resetting your password by text, we collect that phone number for that purpose only.

Guest mode. You can use PCOS Lens without creating an account. In this mode, your data is stored only on your own device and is never sent to our servers, unless and until you create an account, at which point it is transferred to your new account.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

• Provide the screening, tracking, dashboard, and trend features of the app
• Generate personalized wellness recommendations based on your own logged patterns and published PCOS research
• Let you export a summary of your own logs to share with your own healthcare provider, at your own choice and initiative

We do not use your information to train AI models, and we do not use it for advertising.

How We Store and Protect Your Information

Your data is stored using Supabase, a backend infrastructure provider, in a private database. Access controls (row-level security) ensure that each user can only ever access their own data, no other user, and no PCOS Lens staff member browsing the database casually, can see your individual logs through the app itself.

Photos are never stored. When you attach a meal photo to a log, it is sent directly to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis, and then discarded, all within the same request. Only the resulting written summary and glycemic-impact score (for example, “grilled chicken with rice and vegetables, low glycemic impact”) is saved to your account, never the photo itself. The photo does not touch a disk anywhere in this process, on our servers or otherwise. We do not analyze or accept photos of your face, skin, or scalp.

Your AI insight and food photo analyses are processed by Anthropic's Claude API. This includes the text of your logged mood, energy, sleep, exercise, diet, weight trend, symptom locations, and cycle lengths when generating your personalized AI insight, and the contents of a meal photo when you choose to scan one. Per Anthropic's commercial API terms, this data is not used to train their models by default. We send this data only to generate the analysis you requested, never for advertising.

Phone Number and SMS

If you add a phone number to your account, we use it only to send you a text message when you specifically request one, for example a verification code or a password reset code, through our SMS delivery provider, Twilio. We do not share your phone number with any other third party, and we never use it for marketing or promotional messages. Message frequency depends entirely on your own actions: you will not receive a text unless you request one. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. You can remove your phone number from your account at any time in Settings.

What We Never Do

• We never sell your data.
• We never share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
• We never display ads in the app.
• We never claim to diagnose you. PCOS Lens is an informational screening and tracking tool, not a medical device, and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Your Choices and Rights

You can:

• Use the app without an account (guest mode), with data kept only on your device
• Delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app (Account settings > Delete Account), or by contacting us (see below)
• Export your own data at any time using the in-app Export feature

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws (such as the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information). To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.

Children's Privacy

PCOS Lens is not directed at, and may not be used by, anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above.
